Most of the stats online are from 1989 onwards which is post the introduction
of HECS by Keating.

I saw a figure elsewhere that Australia have close to 30% with tertiary qualifications but that is skewed
by the fact that there is a preference for tertiary credentialed immigrants and foreign students who have chosen
to stay in Aus post graduation.
The charts above are interesting because they indicate that women have passed out men in Uni
registrations and that the foreign student intakes has risen consistently since the user pays HECS system
was instituted in 1989.
