I bought one of those Enduro Shield glass treatment kits from Aldi a few weeks ago to try on our showerscreen. The actual treatment will be something like RainX I'm sure - just makes the surface really slick so everything just runs off and doesn't leave watermarks.
The kit included a cleaning solution to use before applying the glass treatment, together with......a small pad of steel wool. Looks no different to the 0000 grade I have in my shed - readily available at Bunnies, etc.
So....the steel wool method is endorsed by the Germans..
