They use the index when calculating returns.....perhaps you misssed that part. You are all wrong anyway. Property and share returns have been almost identical over the last 20 years, depending on whose data and methodology you use, property may come ahead slightly or shares might. So definitevly stating one is better than the other over this period is a furphy.
