I have heard something similiar about stem cells and heart disease. A friend recently came back from thailand and he was telling me about one case over there were they grew the patients stem cells and injected them straight into the heart. Patient made a full recovery. Thailand has a different policy to Australia re scientific trials, basically anything goes as long as not too many people die, whereas in Australia, many people die before a cure is released to the public etc etc etc
