sterile gardens

A good point raised by our gardening guru, Sabrina Hahn, writes in The West Aust and has a Sat morning programme on ABC radio, Shoots and Roots, no many native butterflies seem these days.
It's seems our small suburban gardens are picturesque examples of paving, pebbles, pots and not a weed in site. We spray anything that moves in the garden and the poisons aren't selective. All caterpillars therefore die.
She suggests we leave a small section to go feral. Let it grow weeds for the caterpillars to munch on and hide in from other predators.
I think that's a good idea. It may keep the 'pests' away from the rest of the garden as a bonus.

How are your friends doing? The buggies you 'imported'.
