"Churchill was a non performer till the bullets started flying , though he did predict what was coming & argued for rearmament against a soft opposition . He sounded a dill till the bombs started. Hopefully we will never face what they faced but if we do then I hope Mal & the queasy left are not at the helm."

Brush up on your WW1 history and see how he performed politically when "the bullets started flying". As an Australian (I am just assuming that you are), you should be quite aware of the mistakes. He had is failures and his achievements prior to becoming Prime Minister, but overall he was certainly a brilliant politician. Abbott isn't in the same realm. Much like Turnbull, Gillard, and Rudd, everything that falls from the man's noise hole is riddled with catch phrases, lies, and/or pure rubbish.

But back to the main crux of your post. What you're actually saying here is that Abbott was a "non performer" even as Prime Minister. Well, on this we absolutely agree. He did achieve on a few things he set out on, yes, but overall he was a failure. But don't feel down, failed Prime Minsters is now endemic to Australia. However, he's certainly "performing" verbally from the safety of the backbench like a petulant child very much like those who were cut down before him. One has to question, where was all this talk whilst he was Prime Minister? His backbone is the same as any recent Australian Prime Minister post-Howard. This crop are not worth our time.
