Considering the contents of @beut's post, it's best you look up what "smart dust" (or MEMS) actually are before making arrogant responses like this.
Smart dust and nanobots are current and future (massively) emerging technology, like it or not. It is purely technology advancing with improvements in miniturization and AI. Being potentially both amazing and horrifying in possibilities depending on applications and who (or what) gets to 'pull the levers'.
Look it up, rather than being a complete ass.
