Thorium sounds OK in theory but realistically 30 + years before it is a viable alternative to uranium.

I agree that fossil fuel generation is going to be phased out - much faster that we expect - and solar, wind, geothermal and tidal generation will soon play a major role. The main problem with renewables however is base load and this is where nuclear generation will fill the gap.

Forget Fukashima. It will be a dim memory a couple of years from now. It will not be a watershed like Chernobyl.

What matters is that China and India will fully commit to nuclear generation and the USA and most of Europe will follow suit.

Regardless of your views on climate change, the reality is that carbon taxes world wide will penalize fossil fuels out of existence. When it comes to the crunch and hard cash is the decider, peoples concerns about the perceived risks of nuclear generation will be of little consequence.
