Not sure how advanced my dot joining is but I have spent the last 6 months researching the heck out of shale gas and the possible uses of gas.
With peak oil, the massive amount of gas (shale) being discovered around the world and the carbon tax in oz it is a lay down misere to me that there is going to be a massive sea change in what powers our vehicles and electricity generators in the not too distant future.
Ive seen reports Nissan are releasing a CNG vehicle next year, if you think about it every house is a fuel station.
I digress but you get the idea, anyway the big question for us is how much such a supply agreement would be worth to us.
This website would suggest that the irrigated area is going to near double then triple in size from today

Not sure how much more energy they will need but its probably significantly more thean they are consuming know.
Does anyone know how much energy a 8000-15000 strong community of farmers, miners and tourists would suck up in a year
