Just goes to show that they are still able to find some pretty good finds in southern California near Bakersfield !

"Oxy Makes Big California Find
Occidental Petroleum said on Wednesday
that it has made a significant discovery of oil
and gas reserves in southern California.
“We believe this to be the largest new oil
and gas discovery made in California in
more than 35 years,” said Oxy Chief Executive
Ray Irani.
Oxy believes that there are between 150
million and 250 million gross boe reserves
within the prospect, which is located near
the city of Bakersfield.
The Los Angeles-based firm has drilled six
wells to date to delineate the discovery.
The discovery area has both conventional
and unconventional pay zones but the bulk
of the producing zones are conventional oil
and gas bearing formations.
Oxy holds an 80% interest in the discovery,
which is believed to be roughly twothirds
natural gas."
