When I read the headline in today's Australian of "Rudd to lobby for Beijing", I can't see how a "No" decision could eventuate (notwithstanding perceived "strategic" interests) unless Rudd and Swan are the biggest bunch of hypocrites ever.
How could they go to an international meeting to lobby for an increase in Chinese influence on the world economy if they say "no" to allowing China to invest in Australia. A huge case of NIMBY (Not In My BackYard). It would destroy their argument and credibility.
They are politicians however and nothing is ever certain in politics.
