Shareholders can be fickle and short-term in their thinking. Management teams that pander to the market usually end up making poor decisions. I would much prefer a management team that focuses on making decisions that maximise long-term value. If the market doesn't recognise their efforts in the short term, that simply creates more opportunity for patient investors.
