These policies in California are nonsensical, I agree.
The EU becomes the wildcard now, how are they going to respond to the cutting off of Russian gas?
Even though LNG by ship is more expensive than by pipelines from Russia, the current situation demonstrates that they were geopolitically asleep at the wheel and shouldve invested more in sources from the periphery of the world (US area of influence) and less from Russia.
Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakstan, these places are loaded with petroleum, but its useless if customers cant reliably access it.
Ideally the petroleum ban on russia will be kept on for years, or even decades, and if it goes long term it will allow development of big gas projects in places like Oz.
In the meantime the dividends in particular for WPL should be really sweet going forward (the last one was already great).
