Titan Resources NL today announced a major upgrade to treble its
nickel resources at its wholly-owned Widgiemooltha North property
located some 80 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie.
The Company has lifted its previously announced inferred resources,
from 1,776,800 tonnes at 1.8% nickel for 31,950 tonnes of nickel
metal to 10.2 million tonnes of indicated and inferred resources at
an overall average grade, of 1.04% nickel for a total of 106,185
tonnes of metal.
"The major increase in resources and the varied nature of the
mineralisation, in terms of grade distribution, opens up the
possibility of combining both a conventional high grade massive
sulphide operation with the lower grade material using the company's
exciting new BioHeap(TM) leaching process," said Managing Director, Mr
Bill Ryan.
He said the previously announced inferred resources had not included
a tonnage for the Zabel deposit, one of three established deposits
discovered so far in the project area.
Extensive re-modelling, using the drilling data from former
explorers, Inco, BHP and WMC Resources Ltd, supplemented by Titan's
result from the November 2002 drilling campaign, has led to a
complete re-evaluation of the mineralisation and resources in the
three zones.
The upgraded resource figures are:-
Armstrong: Indicated Resource Status
917,000 tonnes @ 1.85% Ni (sulphide)
and 1,046,000 tonnes @ 0.78% Ni (oxide)
McEwen: Indicated & Inferred Resource Status
Hanging Wall Zone: 5,115,000 tonnes @ 0.85% Ni
Southern Zone: 2,148,000 tonnes @ 0.87% Ni
Zabel: Inferred Resource Status
979,000 tonnes @ 1.93% Ni
Both the Armstrong and Zabel deposits have high-grade shoots within
the overall mineralised bodies, while McEwen is structurally
re-mobilised and is consistently of a lesser grade.
The company is currently exploring at Widgiemooltha with an RC, RAB
and diamond rig. Drilling is expected to continue for the next six
months.
The current RC and diamond work is seeking confirmatory intercepts
within and extensions to the resources at the established Armstrong
(formerly Moore), McEwen (formerly 360N) and Zabel (formerly 384N)
nickel sulphide deposits in the northern sector of the tenement
block. To date 3 RC and 3 diamond holes have been drilled at
Armstrong, 6 RC holes at McEwen and 5 RC holes at Zabel.
Visually, sulphide mineralisation has been encountered in a number of
the drill holes completed. Assay results have only been received for
2 of the RC holes drilled at Armstrong, with results being 4 metres
at 5.4% Ni from 65 metres, including 2 metres at 7.96% Ni in WDC17,
while WDC16 returned 5 metres at 2.95% Ni from 76 metres including
2 metres at 3.79% Ni.
These current drill intercepts lie outside the boundaries of the new
resource figures and will increase the revised tonnage estimates.
In addition, between the Armstrong resource to the south and the
McEwen deposit, some 2.5 kilometres north, lies a highly prospective
area in which the nickel-bearing contact zone is clearly demonstrated
by geophysics as continuous and in which scout drilling carried out
by previous explorers confirmed the presence of the contact.
Titan's current exploration program will include a comprehensive RAB
geochemical drilling campaign of this almost untested area, to
begin before the end of February. Anomalous zones will be followed up
with RC drilling shortly thereafter.
All of the above resources are situated along a 4.5km basal contact
at the northern portion of the company's tenement holding. In
addition, Titan holds a further 18 kilometres strike length of this
prospective contact to the south of the Armstrong deposit. The
southern area has also been only lightly explored.
Ongoing drilling will continue apace to further define the high grade
nickel shoots within the lower grade disseminated mineralisation. At
this stage preliminary mine design/planning at the Armstrong deposit
is scheduled to begin in April. The relatively shallow depth of the
sulphide mineralisation suggest the possibility of open cut mining of
at least the upper portion of the orebody. New results will be
released as appropriate.

accurately reflect information compiled by Karilyn Farmer of Titan
Resources NL who has relevant experience in relation to the
mineralisation being reported on to qualify as a Competent Person as
defined by the Australasian Code for Reporting of Identified Mineral
Resources and Ore Reserves.
