Yep as you said "Why is the govt broke- because they spend more than they earn" and since we keep giving a share of what we earn to the govt, one would have to conclude that if anyone was "robbing us" it is the government that is managing our money. At least we have the power to "give them the sack" and get a new one every so often, and hope that lot will do a better job.
