    I hadn't realised that the situation was this bad. Chris Bowen hasn't an ounce of credibility.

    The chart shows wind and solar having absolute priority in the scheduling and they are maxed out at 50% of demand.

    Gas which as you say is good for spasmodic bursts of quick start and stop, contributes 1%

    Coal generation which is very inefficient to operate in any situation that requires rapidly changing demand patterns is asked to provide 44% of demand in a backup role where it is least suited.

    This means "gas to the rescue" in a really big way. It needs to replace coal until we get nuclear. Even then, nuclear delivery has the same characteristics as coal. You cant play tunes of "on and off" and "fast and slow"

    Again: gas is the only answer
