Israel PM Netanyahu stated "this is a long war".
I assume this tragic war will, sadly, take c. 6 months. There will be many geopolitical tensions- & it will place upward pressure on oil & gas prices during its duration.

In late 2016, it took 6 months for the Iraqi army & its Kurdish allies (but no US troops) to destroy the c.10,000 Islamic State/ISIS combatants in the city of Mosul. Mosul was a densely populated city (previous pop. c 2m), with multiple tunnel systems hiding thousands of ISIS combatants; & with many of the streets & roads blocked by debris/obstructions etc.ie -deliberately causing tanks & armoured military vehicles to be, generally, inoperative
It was mainly house-house, street- street fighting, combined with air strikes on the ISIS fighting positions.

Gaza, c.50km wide, average 8kms wide, covers a much larger area, but has a larger 2m+ population.
