Sorry for the long post.
I have been on HotCopper for about 25 years. It is amazing how many borano's I have seen in this time on so many stocks. You would swear it was the same person.
These people relentlessly downramp a stock daily for no apparent gain for themselves. They always state that they don't own the stock. They always state that they have never owned the stock. They always state that they don't intend to buy the stock. Yet for some reason they spend hours every day for many weeks/months bagging the same stock.
There was one stock I was invested in years ago where a borano would show up every day for weeks then disappeared for a while only to come back when there was potential good news/results for the company. It was an interesting pattern. Always when there was a positive announcement. Interesting that borano's first post on Macro was 2 days after drilling commenced.
I happened to go to the AGM of the above comany and asked one of the BOD why a person would waste so much of their time downramping a stock if they gained absolutely no benefit at all. Then the penny dropped. He told me of course they benefited. They are known as Stock Bashers. Paid by different kinds of organisations so that organisation gets the gains or tries to cause damage to the company in question. Or maybe the individual has a similar agenda for personal gain.
Do you think he/she would tell you the real reason they would spend hours of time researching and writing constant posts? Even finding articles from 10-15 years ago from other companies and trying to compare to their target company.
I doubt anyone would do it day after day, hours on end for many months because they are trying to be good Samaritans. Surely they have a life outside of HC such an astute investor would better spend their time. Think about it.
BTW the BOD guy also said the reverse also happens. He said he was offered the services of one particular company (I can't drop the name here) to upramp a stock for a ridiculous cost (ie. $40K). He told them where to go.
There are many borano's on many stocks in HotCopper. Apparently none of them have ever owned the stock. Apparently none of them ever intend to own the stock. And yet they all tell us that are trying to warn shareholders out of the goodness of their hearts.
Just last Friday borano posted 13 times on M4M. His first post at 6:56am and last at 7:21pm. A pattern nearly every day since Macro started drilling. What a trooper for trying to help everyone out.
What is my best guess with borano. He doesn't seem the type to pursue a personal vendetta from losing money in the past. I doubt he is working on behalf of a company. I'd say he is buying shares from the small weak retailer and stop losses from the daytraders. The only way to accumulate a large amount on this particular stock. Just my guess. Of course he will deny it as they all do. He will give us a LOL. Whatever his motive is, it's definitely to make money. That is guaranteed.
At the end of the day you should do your own research. Don't be persuaded either way by downrampers or uprampers for that matter. Make your own decision whether to buy, hold or sell and stick solid with your decision.
And remember never fall in love with a stock.
Google "Stock Bashers".
Here are a couple of good reads.
See if you see anything matching characteristics of old mate.
