Have a look on the GDA thread, one of the more credible posters Fatstocks posted his approach to this titled the "if" factor. Its worth a read has he has runs on the board and continues to come up with solid stocks. I'll see if I can find it and post here for you. Good luck ...its a steep learning curve with many holes to fall in.
