I agree with your statement but apply it equally to Shorters, Buyers and Holders.

I would like to buy some 3 to 6 months Puts in Lynas. Like you, US rules prevent this or shorting, I know ways around the rules but will not use them.
I have not bought any MP Puts yet. Plan to buy some in near future, Probably 3 to 6 month terms. now and some short term ones the week before Q2 announcement, considering both option price & SP at that time.. There is a chance this could go bad a certain percent of my actions always go bad. I just feel that right now The chances of a drop for both stocks are far greater than a rise. That is why people in AU are shorting it is because they put more weight in down side factors than upside factors. You do the opposite. Time will tell who is correct.

I have not shorted since 2000 because of a successful Short in Amazon that showed me just how dangerous shorts can be. Even when they turn out OK.


not as true in AU were institutions provide shares to shorters. in US most shares are provided by individual investors, through brokers, and are callable. If you have shares in a margin account your broker can loan them. This if you have or have not borrowed against them. The individual decides to sell you are called. The margin account holder is never notified or compensated when their shares are loaned.
