China economy is struggling to recover. Domestic demand is weak. It needs to export while trying to stimulate its own people to consume. It's focus is green energy, smart manufacturing etc. It is the industry leader by far in rare earths. So of course it's in their interest to keep prices low while they can and manufacture as much as possible while keeping outside China wannabees from entering the market, except they haven't been able to get rid of Lynas. So until demand picks up enough, they can keep prices as low as they like to deter outsiders and they can continue as long as they want to . Unlike iron ore where China has been unable to control the price despite trying very hard.
Market manipulators understand this and they understand that Lynas is in expansion mode atm. Although Lynas has excellent management and operators, ramping up comes with risk. So the share price can be manipulated to unreasonable levels for now. Until they prove themselves - yet again. So investors have a decision to make, stick with Lynas or move to something less 'risky' or not stuck in a hole, for now. I'm in for the long haul but each should understand and act on their own timeframes and risk tolerance.
