Interesting questions about vehicles and I don't know the answers.
But perhaps the more important question will be the best large scale immobile energy store.
With wind/solar highly variable a grid based on them will need massive storage to maintain consistency of supply.
The main options seem to be batteries, H2 or pumped hydro.
Unlike EVs, size & weight will be less important than cost, reliability and long life.
Maybe that's where H2 will come into its own.
Or vanadium based battery systems or ...
But probably not lithium IMO because its big advantage is energy density (critical for EVs but not for mass storage).
