Posible but I think we will find that shorts help more than they hurt During the first 22 days of December shorts went up 40M shares about 4 % this is a lot I will agree but during that same period the stock went from 6.35 to 7.00 and traded 67M shares. So shorts probably knocked a few cents off the rise but I doubt more than that. Now last week the stock went down but it did not realy start till Wednesday when price fell to 6.95. There is a 4 day delay in posting tottall shorts so we will have to wait till Friday to see how shorts impacted the fall. JMO they will go down slowing the fall.
If you started thinking about Revenue and Earnings These are the two things that effect all stocks the most. you would not have to rely on vapor ware to figure out what is going on. Stock will continue to fall not because of shorts but because of Revenue announced in Q2 and Q3 report and profits in SAR. Revenue is product made times price sold for. Earning is directly linked to revenue. Look at these two charts carefully and decide what is causing fall. dont for get shut down this Q
Here is the quick summery page from Yahoo. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/LYC.AX?p=LYC.AX You can look at any summery page ( ASX, your broker, Microsoft) on any stock and you will always find PE and usually EPS (this is earnings) I doubt you will find Shorts ever listed. So what do you think most investors look at? I have seen stock that have a short ratio of over 15% so 6 % as A 3 year high is not realy that high. JMO as price falls in next couple of months you will see shorts go under 5% possibly 4% so they will be a positive influence on SP. Some charts for you to think about and decide if Shorts are the problem. Are you saying 400 to 500% tariff or 4 ~ 5%?
Could you explain who would do this and how would it help? The only country that imports a lot of REE from booth China and Lynas is Japan. For them to put a large tariff (even 10%) on Chinas REE would send the cost of their Metals, magnetic materials, and subassemblies through the roof, which means when competing with China they would not be able to sell anything. So who does your Tarif help?
Idea sounds great from a Lynas point of view but to know if it is at all reasonable you have to think about who would do it and what the down stream impact would be. Sure AU could do it but what impact would it have. A 100% tax would make the US$ NV /KG price $100 which would have Lynas rolling in money again 400% seems a little extreme. 5% would do nothing. 500% would totally destroy the market, EVs would go back to non Perm-magnets motors like every body did a dozen years ago when prices skyrocket because of China's embargo. Think about what you are saying a little. Think globally not just about your stock.
JMO I think you will be very happy over the next 6 months maybe a lot longer. You should keep tabs if things change this could be an exciting stock in the future but only cause big loses for those holding. Paper loses are just as bad as real and I do not differentiate between them.
