    There must be more to this story, as the Golden Mile pits are all "virgin ground"/previously unmined (unless there were some trivial/ old minor underground shafts from the early 20th century), so wouldn't be full of scrap steel, the only steel that should be in there is any old bogged exploration drill rods and/or any drill steel from the modern blast hole rigs and they are easy to spot when mining, they usually never make it to the ore trucks due to their easily spotted length by operators.

    Re: Great Australia plant: Most crushing circuits have grizzlies/ and magnets for ferrous scrap steel to catch the big stuff before it gets fed into the crusher and then the grinding circuit and ball mill. Surely the Great Australia crushing circuit would have had these?

    If they were mining through extensive underground historic workings, and didn't have any tramp metal detection systems, I could understand, but there could be other things going on. TBA once again proving to be a black hole/void of information. Oh well - might find out eventually.
