The ever changing space age technology, will produce industries that will reduce reliance on limited resources and become cleaner. Its all going to happen and we can opt to be part of it, even leading, or be left behind and become poorer by the day. The latter wont happen because the future is our young who are being born into this new age of advanced technology and they will determine the future of the country and will not be as adverse to change as we older folk.

As to your dog eating dog comments we have become a civilised nation that looks after the vulnerable, the severely disabled and we endeavour to maintain safety nets for our times of need. That strengthens our society not diminishes it. We do not want the dog eat dog mentality you preach for that has been the greatest scourge faced by humanity when we have had despots that try to crush others for their own gain. Decent folk prefer a fairer democratic society.
