one thing you're not taking into account jason...
...if you split the 'slaves' you have to split the proverbial 'cotton fields'...
...that leads to increased costs for big bussiness (more offices, more telephone lines, more warehouses, more water fountains...)
gigantic city is exactly what BB wants !!!
if only (with our own money from our taxes) we would build ourselves (read: them) a better infrastructure so everything can perform smoothly (so their productivity doesn't suffer) !
big bussiness(remember who pays the pollies campaigns and decides on legislating this or that...) doesn't want you to have your own town (you might decide that you don't want THEM in there)...
that's not what they are paying 'them' for !!!
...on the other end of the scale there is Clover Moore (mayor of Sydney) that wants the center of 4-5 mill city to be "city of villages" where we can conduct "all the bussines" for Oz and SE Asia but still grow carrots in our own backyards 700m away from Town Hall !
