Day Trading can be a lonely place, that is why 90% of you spend your daily lives on here and not outside enjoying life or in a normal day-to-day job. How many of you have spent the whole day/or night staring into a computer screen while waiting for your indicator or trigger signals to identify a buy or sell opportunity, sat there on your own, waiting to communicate to others also in a similar place; you sell the word on HC and wait for the herd to push up your buy price. The minnows search for opportunities on hc, follow the herd into buying shares, and get caught out by the wiser traders who know when it is time to sell out. The dark pool will use their advanced technical s/w, to drive the direction of the market. Large orders will be broken down to 100, 200 lots in quick fire...warning signal to many to sell out.

Index trading if speculating is a gamble, it should really be used to hedge your equity position, the same applies for options. Currency trading is also very difficult, and short-term trading is nearly impossible with the daily swing movements.

Research/experience/patience is vital to be a successful trader, and never become attached to a company or share. Every time you hit the buy/sell button it is a belief that only 'you' can understand why you did it. Trading is also about the edge, being on top of what is happening in the world, and using all your indicators. It is a world of probability and when the odds 'your' calc. odds are in your favour, then you take that edge or belief. It is a gamble, because you are parting with your money, and with probability there is always uncertainty. Generally you would hope your decision falls within the normal bounds of standard deviation and that you've covered your risk, but there is that 'black swan' event that will happen without you knowing it, which will eventually catch you out. You will ask yourself questions why, and how you could of done things differently. There are no answers, it was your belief that took you there in the 1st place.

Life is chance, and it is about taking calculated risks. Never get greedy and never risk beyond your means.
