SHANGHAI, Nov. 13 (SMM) - Baotou Steel Rare Earth International Trade Co. raised procurement prices for rare earth oxides again on November 11, rekindling speculation that the State Reserve Bureau (SRB) will stockpile rare earth soon.
Baotou Steel Rare Earth International Trade Co. is a subsidiary of Baotou Steel Rare Earth (Group) Hi-Tech Co. Like what it did last year, the company launched purchases shortly before the SRB stockpiled rare earth. As a result, markets are now expecting the SRB to take action soon.
Guangdong Rising Nonferrous Metals Group Co., China Minmetals Rare Earth Co. and Chalco Rare Earth Co. also released offers for rare earth oxides. However, these rare earth giants said they have received no stockpiling notice from the SRB so far.
