    saracen10, excuse my ignorance, but how are BHP buying back these share? Are they buying them on market? If so, does this not put upward pressure on the SP? or this a way too simplistic analysis.

    I agree that greater dividends would see the sp higher too, just wondered if buying on market would also have this effect. Also, if they are buying back shares, does this not result in a tighter registry, hence also creating upward pressure on sp?
