The event either occurred, or it didn't occur, doesn't matter if it was proven or not, as it has no bearing on what actually occurred.

You were trying to make out a not guilty verdict some how meant the event didn't occur, when it means no such thing.

The standard is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
