I always have targets and I mostly sell when they get there, as other sellers tend to come in at that point. Therefore I am usually selling within a cent or two of "a" top - which is not necessarily "the" top.
It is irritating if it starts to run again and you miss it - but you cant go broke taking a profit, and there are plenty of other fish in the sea.
Having said that - I agree with you. With the market in bull mode, many stocks are tending to run and run again, so that what was a compulsory sell for the last three years is often quite forgiving and profitable if you leave it.
