    Good question acturtle,

    I have used a variety of measures depending on the stock and associated risk. Suggestions:-

    *channel trendline support - better for stocks of substance
    *5% from drop from high (or entry)
    *10% drop from high or entry - better for more volatile stocks

    The answer really resides in your and the stocks risk profile
