Why is Labor playing games with the Australian public on GST ?
Simply because they cannot rely on their track record, so might as well start making things up and scare monger.
A good, stable government which has been in power for many years normally rely on their past record and achievements for re-election.
Not possible this time... The ALP are purely attacking the alternative, rather than showcase. There is nothing to showcase except massive debt, business uncertainty, and an unstable government. Sorta stuff Rudd would want to sweep under the carpet and why wouldn't he? There's no great story about such a dysfunctional government like rudd/gillard and rudd again. Even all the prior ministers are resigning. So labor don't have an A-team, nor even a B-team, but are now resorting to a C-team and relying on the personality of one person. Not that that one person was anything great, but they are relying on public sympathy from righting a wrong for the original disposition.
On policy, most important to any sovereign nation is control of her borders. I would like to hear about the porous borders of northern Queensland. Stating that come by boat with no visa = elsewhere doesn't cut it, because many of these people are unknown to border control in the first place, thus blindly integrating without public and government knowledge. For the election campaign, labor would prefer to pretend there is no problem, just like their excessive spending even with record federal revenues for the past 6 years.
The ALP have a LOT to answer for during the past years, and people will react to their record to determine if they're worth backing again. If not, they will choose the alternative - a stable, mature coalition.
By the sounds of things, this is clearly what the public will do by voting for the coalition, regardless of any scare campaign. Just look at what labor did in Qld - massive negative campaign and it resulted in a labor wipeout of historic proportions.
Cheers...
