Australia was the envy of the world during Prime Minister Rudd's first term of government. His opponents Labor and Liberal couldnt handle his style but it was ironic that it was his own that brought about his demise.

Having said that, Rudd was PM at a time the world was in crisis, the GFC.

Rudd moved quickly with his stimulus packages, some say a tad too quickly, but the results were remarkable. He provided monetary assistance to a majority of Australians to boost confidence and spending, thus assisting business and help retain jobs. Australia was literally the envy of the world during that time. The unprecedented switch to Gillard in Rudd's last year as PM was probably one of the greatest mistakes made ever made by Labor. Labor won government in alliance with the Greens but went downhill from there. They paid the price for what they did to Rudd. The allowed one of the most unpopular politicians in the country to subsequently become PM. They foisted Tony Abbott on us.

You can be certain that if Rudd does become involved in trying to diffuse the conflict in the Ukraine it will be with the Abbott government's blessing. So all the huffing and puffing by some is imo ill directed.
