I dont think you can claim bluegen as a "great aussie invention" when fuel cells were invented over a century ago and NASA were using fuel cells since the 1960s. Where bluegen is a small 1.5kW SOFC unit aimed at the residential market, Bloom Energys SOFC units are 200kW and have similar 60% electrical efficiency levels as bluegen. Bloom Energy is a great commercial success, just look at their customer list on their website. Massive US companies.
I think people can get caught up in the whole "aussie invention" hype. If Bloom Energy ever float in the US and start mass producing fuel cells for SME and smaller residential units for the US market, I will be buying shares in their IPO and not throwing good money after bad with CFU.
