Maybe because the numbers coming here are trivial compared to the hundreds of thousands of refugees some other countries are having to deal with.
Australia does not have a big problem and if it was not for the political bickering going on it would be easily dealt with.
The Greens will not bend on their open door policy so Labor and Liberal need to co-operate to get anything through the Senate.
In the interests of most they should be doing so but Gillard and Abbott are both too pig-headed.
