Couple of points on this.
Yes we have some fat people waddling around but how bad is the problem really? We used to measure just the obese people. Now we seem to have added overweight people into that category. Why is that? Just to boost the numbers? Make the problem bigger (pun intended) than it is?
And how do we measure obesity and overweight? The BMI? Another measure? Has the definition of obese and overweight changed in the last decade or so? I require more information.
As for trying to dictate through carrot and/or stick approach what people eat, forget it. Government should have no role in people's freedom of choice to what they eat or drink. You may not like what they like to eat but as it doesnt hurt you why get involved?
