My wife usually shops at a large IGA in Perth. Came home today and said they have just installed the most annoying self service checkout facilities. Apparently a computerised voice now reads out the total (in a loud voice) for each item that you scan.
My wife simply said she wont shop there again. Even asked the shop assistant if she could turn down the volume and was told it was not possible. I hope my wife's experience is not going to be the norm as that wont bode well for improved customer experience. Hope the store managers are onto this and get feedback from their customers on these "upgraded" facilities.
Am keeping an eye on this as a potential recovery investment. Will perhaps visit a few other IGAs in my area to see if this is being rolled out across the board.
