"Trump still hasn't put forward any semblance of a case"

Trump isn't likely to present his case(s) to the court of public opinion because the mainstream media is rabidly against him. Likewise Trump knows that the military-industrial complex and associated generals are against him because he doesn't support various profitable brushfire wars, so it would be pointless for him to attempt any kind of military takeover. In fact, any move like that on his part would play right into their hands. He's a student of Sun Tzu. Believe it or not, he isn't stupid. Plus, don't be surprised if he takes his oath before God to defend the US constitution seriously. He defends it, and it defends both him and the people.

My best guess is that this will develop into a court battle. If Trump should happen to look like winning that, look for unrest in the streets. Just don't take it quite so much for granted that Trump will be the one initiating or supporting any violence.

Let's all relax and take a step backwards. This may get dull and slow as the wheels grind along.
