KAR has had one well that was producing 10% of it's production at Bauna out of action since 20 November (and as at 16 January still is out of production) which is a loss of over 160,000 barrels of oil so that is material IMO and in addition other wells were off line for several days causing production at Bauna to fall to around one third of normal production. The comparison to BHP for a couple of days reduced production in one of it's several divisions is frankly ridiculous! Furthermore when it comes to oil production from a mature field that is in decline, a rapid and on going reduction raises concerns by the market that field performance could be at risk or serious equipment failure could result in prolonged production problems which are unlikely to cause comparable concerns with temporary iron ore production issues.
