Copper and Silver Production
Commences at Renison
21 December 2010 (Perth, WA)
Metals X is pleased to advise that it has commissioned the copper circuit at the Renison Tin Project in Tasmania
and is now producing a copper concentrate as a co-product.
Metallurgical performance to date is showing higher than expected concentrate grades and recoveries
compared with those achieved in the initial test work.
Copper co-product production is expected to be at a rate of 1000-2000 tonnes of copper metal per annum
depending on the active production area within the mine.
The copper concentrate also contains a significant silver credit, with initial test work indicating approximately
400ppm silver in final concentrates. This could potentially add silver production of up to 100,000 oz per annum
to the operation.
The commencement of copper and silver production is a significant step and will result in a reduction to the
overall operating cost in the order of AUD$1,000-$1,500 per tonne of tin metal produced.
The strong outlook for copper in the current market adds another element of leverage to the Renison Project in
conjunction with the already strong tin price.
