The big question that arises from America's lack of certain natural resources is: will the US seek to find domestic sources or secure stable suppliers abroad. Given that the geological lottery well known in the US more than most countries (thank you USGS), my bet is that we will see American companies and investors looking for strategic minerals in "friendly jurisdictions" (yes, a purposefully ambiguous and broad term) rather than striving to recover minerals found domestically at the limit of economic viability.
