I'm a self-funded retiree. Shares purchased via my SMSF attract no capital gains.
We're heading towards ex-dividend.
At the same time our 4 huge short lenders are engineering the share price up to (say $5.75) before commencing the next major short cycle.
So I plan to sell some shares at $5.75.
When PLS goes ex-div the share price will drop say 20 cents.
As soon as ex-div expires and I can repurchase I'll re-buy the shares I sold at $5.75 plus reinvestment of the promised dividend amount.
When PLS pays their new dividend there will be a tsunami of share holders wanting to reinvest and the share price will climb, possibly to new all-time highs.
It's not rocket medicine.
