But prior to Stratmin becoming a supplier - Madi was still the number three supplier to Asbury - number 1 was china, never confirmed number 2 beyond a shadow of a doubt - but number 3 i know for a FACT was Establissements Gallois. A french company.
Never once closed its doors during the China decimation of G markets in the 90s.
Chinese threw a lot of G deposits off their perch in the 90s - but not Madi. Madi survived them.
Why is Madi so special? Why does Asbury need two suppliers out of Madi? Because Estalissements Gallois has run out of graphite, or because their processing plants can't supply enough volume to meet demand.
That offtaker of Stramin made it clear it wouldn't buy sub 94% grade when they first signed first announced. But ended up buying sub 94% from Stratmin months later. And the remainder of their stockpiles were 'offloaded'.
Indians are buying up deposits there too fyi.
