And here is the latest composite of leading indicators for the US that includes the Business climate indicator (PMI), Consumer sentiment, Dwellings started, Net new durable goods orders, Spread of interest rates, Employment and Share prices (common stocks NYSE).  

Note the sharp decline well in advance of the GFC - explains why I exited the market at that time. No worrying trends showing up at the moment.
