complete FUD. Ridiculous.
as a mud engineer, I can tell you that the primary function of the stuff is to indeed control the down hole pressure (with 10 other non primary functions.. wellbore stability, corrosion control, etc). If you were to ever encounter a pressure zone that can evacuate a well of mud completely (I.e. >2km deep) before you have time to react, a 15kpsi BOP isn't going to help you either.
