Stuart Nicolls has drawn the publics attention to a conflict of interest between the McGowan Govt and the owner of WA News. The AFR article is well written and should be read by all stakeholders including WA voters.
Under concessions granted by the WA government in 2020, a chunk of gas from Waitsia can be exported as LNG while all other onshore production is restricted to the WA domestic market.
“The unintended consequence of that is that you’ve created two species in the Perth Basin,” Mr Nicholls said.
“The ones that have the LNG export exemptions (Beach and Mitsui through Waitsia) and the ones that don’t. And now unfortunately the big ones are looking like they’re going to eat the little ones.
