They are working with a variable gradient that is estimated to average out at about 60C/km. At the coordinates the HABs were drilled, the 5000m temp would be about 290C (using the data gathered at 4250m), as it is not one of the hotter regions of the GELs (good to stick a pilot plant on, though).

The Jolokia series of wells should intersect 300C at 5000m.

The effect of increased temperature on a heat engine has been modelled by MIT and reproduced by GDY. The increase in output achieved by drilling the extra 750m (a theoretical increase in temperature of 45C)should be in the region of 40%. If I come across the graph any time soon, I'll post it up for you.
