WITH the push on to prove up additional resources at its ageing Wiluna operation in Western Australia, Perth-based gold producer Agincourt Resources has intersected high-grade gold mineralisation at it Calais underground mine, including a stunning intersection of 2m at 128.7 grams per tonne of gold.



The latest drilling targeted the Lens 50 and Lens 100 zones at Calais with the standout Lens 100 results including 10.5m at 31.3gpt (true width 10.3m), 23m at 11.4gpt of gold (true width 23m), and 14.5m at 14.9gpt of gold (true width 11.1m).

Lens 50 results returned 30.5m at 9.1gpt (true width 19m) and 11.8m at 20.8gpt (true width 9m).

Agincourt said the results were significant in that they fell outside of the zone of the current reserves at Calais and would result in two or more additional stoping panels being extracted.

"These discoveries will result in additional ore being extracted from these horizons during this financial year," the company said.

The next phase of drilling, to begin next week, will focus on the Magazine resource where previous drilling in the last quarter defined an indicated an inferred resource of 60,000t at 3.8gpt for 7300oz.

Wiluna produced 25,750oz in the June quarter following on from a rain-affected March quarter that produced 27,676oz.

Agincourt also advised that mining from the Williamson openpit has now ceased, with work now underway on the Wiluna East pit cut-back where mining will focus on an area known as the Saddle.

Earlier this month, the company advised that drilling in the East Pit Saddle had identified a new, high-grade lens of mineralisation lying adjacent to the main East Lode structure. Drilling returned a standout hit of 56m at 10.8gpt including 4m at 81.6gpt (true width 9.7m).
