Before pulling the trigger on your sell orders - there may be some great news for shareholders, coming on 2 fronts in the coming months;

1. Finalisation of JV dialogue - enabling fast-track development of the City deposits.

2. Fallout from allegations of precious-metal market manipulation - as reported by King World News, whistle-blower metals-market trader Andrew Maguire and GATA.

Some commentators have labelled these claims as 'fearmongering.'

"Meanwhile, in the conspiracy-minded reaches of the blogosphere, several commentators alleged that JP Morgan was actually acting as an agent for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, perpetrating an evil government conspiracy to manipulate the price of precious metals downward.

That's actually not as far fetched as it sounds. While at Harvard, Larry Summers wrote a paper describing how the Gold market could be manipulated downward in order to protect the U.S. Treasury Market.

So for someone to speculate that the U.S. Government was behind this price manipulation, first using Bear Sterns and now J.P.Morgan as their agents to carry out this illegal dirty deeds. As conspiracy theories go, this one really isn't all that implausible.

But even so, the fact remains that this is pure speculation. I'm not aware of any conclusive evidence that the NY Fed is behind whatever J.P. Morgan is up to.
Thankfully, Ted Butler has shown the good judgment to leave the conspiracy theories out of his work, and focuses instead on the contention that JP Morgan has a large concentrated short position and appears to be using it to perpetrate an illegal market manipulation.

Before falling back into the comfort of complacency - after all the title of the article does have these terrific key words - Debunking - Fearmongering Campaign - have a second look at this significant statement from Erik's passage;

"I'm not aware of any conclusive evidence that the NY Fed is behind whatever J.P. Morgan is up to."

...And that is exactly the problem.

For many years the US Federal Reserve has operated in complete secrecy.
They have successfully avoided any regular and independent audits for decades.

There have been several US Presidents, Senators and Representatives, together with US citizens who have all been pushing for proper accounting procedures.

And here we again circle back to the central issue - there is no conclusive proof - because no-one has been able to get it!

This should now change.

There are claims that the US Federal Reserve is a private bank.
This would mean that it is not owned by the US Government nor the US Treasury Dept.
